KIOSK Information System Releases New Remote Monitoring Platform
KIOSK Information Systems (KIOSK) is announcing CORE K-Nect, a new Remote Monitoring application that provides real-time visibility of an unattended kiosk network. The licensed application provides both monitoring and alerts on system connectivity, application status, as well as individual component performance. It includes an extensive Hardware Provider Layer (HPL) that leverages Internet of Things (IoT) signaling capabilities to report field issues as they occur. The application resolves the challenge of virtually attending a kiosk terminal network that, by definition, is primarily un-attended.
KIOSK CTO Charley Newsom states, “Today’s KIOSK clients have standards of uptime that are 98 – 99+%, which are only achievable if you’re receiving alerts that enable you to resolve issues in real-time. CORE K-Nect provides proactive device-level maintenance alerts notifying you when the system or components need attention (i.e. connectivity interruption, bill sweeps, paper refills). This prevents the majority of common maintenance issues from progressing to an error state. If a system element does fail, knowing issue specifics can significantly reduce downtime and field service costs. Aside from cost savings, the real benefit is having reliable technology in place to report issues – relying on downtime reports from customers is simply bad form. Real-time notifications are a cost and “face-saving” standard that every deployer really should have in place.”
As the dominant provider of custom self-service solutions in North America, KIOSK’s Application Development Team has created an extensive HPL library, with 13 mainstream components in the first release. It includes most commonly deployed printers, scanners, credit card readers, bill acceptor, card printer, LCD, locker controller boards, and more. CEO Tom Weaver adds, “KIOSK is constantly creating new platform configurations, which drives a fast pace on new component releases. Our Developers are continuously adding new device-level visibility, which provides a distinct service advantage for K-Nect users. Maximized device-level data is the heart of field service advantage and is the key differentiator between KIOSKS’ Remote Monitoring and other market solutions.”
CORE K-Nect code has exposed APIs, enabling the application to be leveraged by clients with in-house development for their kiosk user interface. Licensing existing remote monitoring code reduces development demands for a faster, simpler, and more cost-effective development effort. Further, turnkey remote monitoring services are available, where KIOSK agents monitor and resolve client issues as a Managed Service offering.
